Que signifie le mot “fraternité” dans la devise française ?
What does the word "fraternity" mean in the French motto?
Correct answer
La solidarité et l'entraide entre tous les citoyens, qui se reconnaissent comme semblables malgré leurs différences
Solidarity and mutual help among all citizens, who see one another as equals despite their differences
Why
Republican fraternity is civic, not ethnic or religious: it means seeing others as equals and showing solidarity, for example through social protection funded by taxes and contributions. In 2018 the Conseil constitutionnel recognised fraternity as a constitutional principle. From the official naturalisation knowledge-question list.
